Competitive exams! What does that mean? How to prepare for that? What materials do we need? How can we succeed? Here are some tips for the aspirants…

First of all, what is a competitive exam? The answer to this question in general is, it depends on the level of awareness a person has, at different points in one's career. For some, it may be a complicated exam, which only the toppers will try and succeed. For some, it will be the one which they attempt for the satisfaction of their family. For some, it may seem like a foreign thing.

Whatever it is,  a competitive exam is one which a graduate can attempt, to proceed further in his education or to start his career by getting a job. It's not  rocket science, which only the first bench students can attempt, rather, it’s one which anyone who is hardworking and has a keen determination can achieve.

It is an exam usually with multiple-choice questions, which a candidate has to complete within a given span of time. After that, the candidates are ranked according to their marks and the toppers are selected. The marking system is different for different exams and there are negative markings too.

Preparation:

The finest way to succeed is, one should start preparing once they finish their schooling and step into their graduation.

First make a clear decision, for what competitive exam you are going to preparing. Browse the current syllabus for that exam, also do collect all the relevant previous year questions. Then analyze the syllabus and the questions asked so far. This will give you an idea of what you need to prepare.

Write down the topics you need to prepare and make a list.  This will give you an eagerness to study and boost your preparation.

Materials:

Two categories of materials are needed in general,

1.  The common topics

2.  The stream specific topics

The common topics are those which are common in all the competitive exams like aptitude, reasoning, etc.,

The stream specific topics are those which are unique and distinguish each exam from one another. For example, bank exams will have questions related to the bank and finance.

Before buying new materials and books. First search for the existing ones on your bookshelves.  Highlight the topics which you can prepare from the existing materials in the list you have written previously. First study the materials in hand, make them through,  then go for the others. And after completing both then look for a bestselling book for your competitive exam and buy that. Only then you can feel the exam easier, as you may be familiar with many topics. In case, if you buy a book directly and start preparing you may get panic.

Decide and fix a time to study every day. It's better to prepare early in the morning.  Prepare a time - table and strictly adhere to it. You can even plan what topics you can prepare for each day and follow that. This advance planning will help you to cover all the relevant topics.

And in final don't forget to read the daily newspaper.  This will keep you updated on the current affairs, which is a high and easy to score category, in most competitive exams.

Above all prepare with a positive attitude and never ever leave your hardworking.

Hard work will definitely succeed.

Why still waiting! Come on start your preparation!

Wish you all the best aspirants!
