Nilgris Recruitment 2021: Geo-Technical Expert

 Applications are invited from Eligible Candidates for appointment of following temporary posts on contract basis for period of one year for preparation of detailed project report on landslide Mitigation project for the identify potential landslide hot spots areas of the Nilgiris District as per the National Disaster Management authority guidelines .

Position Title: Geo-Technical Expert

Remuneration: Rs 75,000/-

Qualifications Required: 

        1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with First Class 

        2. Post Graduate’s degree (M.Tech., M.S. M.E.) in Geotechnical Engineering / Soil Mechanics /                Rock Mechanics with first class.

Experience: 

        At-least four years of industrial/research/teaching experience after P.G. Degree. The experience gained during Ph.D is considered as four years research experience. Job Profile: 

The Nilgiris District has different types of landslides which cause significant destruction in terms lives, property and livelihood. The Nilgiris district has come up with a series of landslides during the years 2009, 2019 and 2020. The Geological Survey of India (GSI), Chennai Region, had carried out “Post Disaster Landslide studies” and shared the list of 77 landslides with the details of control and corrective measures. So that to prepare the detailed project report on landslide mitigation for submitting before the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) the expected persons should be carried out following tasks. 

        1) Preparation of large scale (1:1000/500) contour mapping; 

        2) Geological Mapping / Plan; 

        3) Geo-physical / Geo-technical investigation; 

        4) Slope stability analysis planning and design of appropriate site specific Remedial measures; 

        5) Capacity building etc., 

 The Experts will be provided with necessary support from the line departments in Investigation Surveying, Soil Testing, Borehole-drilling Geophysical analysis etc. The above experts will be working under direct control of the District Collector of Udagamandalam on contract basis initially for the period of one year from the date of appointment and their tenure may be extended as per the need.
